Vitamin Routine for Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails

Developing a vitamin routine is important for your everyday health, although today many women are looking for vitamins that will specifically help them grow long hair, strong nails and have healthy skin. Along my hair journey, I’ve noticed that taking a vitamin for hair growth can really do wonders if  you feel like you’ve hit a growth wall when it comes to length or thickness.  Therefore if you’ve noticed that your hair isn’t growing or you’re struggling with weak nails and acne-prone skin, I would highly recommend developing a vitamin routine for these needs. Below I’m going to share my vitamin routine which has significantly increased my hair growth as well as the health of my skin and nails.

  1. Daily Vitamins for Women

Taking a daily vitamin is vitally important for helping your body to perform at its peak on a daily basis. If you find that your skin is problematic and you’re hair and nails are not growing, it could have a lot to do with what you are putting into your body. First, you must start with a healthy diet, rich in fruit, vegetables, healthy protein and WATER! Your body needs these things to function properly.

After you’ve developed a healthy diet, you can supplement this with a daily vitamin that is geared toward your body’s needs. I chose a high-potency vitamin that is specifically formulated for the particular needs of woman’s body. Women’s vitamins also tend to have ingredients that focus on developing healthy skin, hair and nails such as Biotin. Currently, I am using Optimum Nutrition Opti-Women, Women’s Multivitamin which contains 23 essential vitamins and minerals as well as added calcium, iron, folic acid and 17 other specialty ingredients. This supplement also contains Vitamin A, C and E as well as biotin which makes it a great daily vitamin for hair growth as well as strong nails and healthy skin. These are considered high-potency vitamins, therefore you should be able to see noticeable results shortly after using them.

I’ve also used Garden of Life Multivitamin for Women which I actually like the best because it is a raw, whole food vitamin with antioxidants and live probiotics and enzymes. This is a great daily  vitamin for hair, skin and nails because it contains ingredients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Biotin. It is also free of gluten, dairy, binders/fillers, artificial ingredients, GMOs or soy-based ingredients. Therefore these vitamins are safe for pretty much any diet. Because these vitamins are raw with active ingredients, you should notice results fairly quickly. I’ve noticed better digestion and energy levels when taking this vitamin as well as hair growth, stronger nails and better skin. Therefore this is a great vitamin for hair growth as well as overall health.

Getting on a consistent daily vitamin routine is going to help you boost your health in key areas that may be affecting your hair and nail growth as well as your skin health. I just want to emphasize that while vitamins can certainly give you a boost in certain areas, they are a dietary supplement. This means they are not meant to replace a healthy diet, they are meant to supplement one. You can not put icky things into your body and expect to see healthy skin, hair and nails. Therefore, I encourage you to take a holistic approach to your health by adding a daily vitamin to your health routine. And be consistent!

  1. Biotin

You may have heard of biotin before in regards to hair growth. Biotin is a coenzyme and a B vitamin that is better known for its benefits for the skin, hair and nails. Biotin also supports nerve health, digestion, metabolism and cell health. Therefore it’s a great supplement to take for your overall health in addition to hair and nail growth. In addition to my daily vitamins, I take one 5,000 mcg capsule of biotin daily. The biotin I take is a high potency capsule with organic coconut oil. It is non-gmo and formulated without Gluten, Preservatives, Soy Or Stearates. I take this capsule daily and after consistent use, I’ve received noticeable results in the my hair and nail growth.

Biotin is a must have vitamin for hair growth. Therefore if you’re looking to overcome a hair growth hurdle, then I would highly recommend you take a high potency biotin supplement consistently. You will only see results if you take these supplements consistently. Also, the biotin I take comes in veggie capsules so they are vegetarian safe. I would highly recommend the capsules I bought from Amazon because they’re pure, high potency and contain a high amount of biotin for noticeable results. You can purchase them here.

  1. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another great vitamin for hair, skin and nails. It is better known for increasing immunity, as well as healthy skin and eyes. Vitamin E is also rich in antioxidants which work to prevent cell damage. I take vitamin E for its benefits for the skin which include supporting moisture and elasticity, two very important things that protect against aging. It also helps to reduce inflammation and support cell regeneration which helps keep your skin looking young and damage free. You can take Vitamin E as a supplement and also use it topically in the form of an oil on your skin and hair. I use Vitamin E oil regularly on my skin and I notice that it heals my skin and regenerates any damage that has occurred as a result of acne or scarring. I also take Vitamin E supplements in capsule form which I get from Trader Joe’s, although you may also purchase them on Amazon here.

I hope you found this post helpful in providing some key vitamins for hair growth as well as healthy skin and nails. The most important thing to remember is that none of these supplements will replace healthy lifestyle practices. Therefore consume a lot of fresh fruit and veggies as well as healthy forms of protein so that you can meet all of your body’s needs through your diet. The results you get from these supplements will only be enhanced by a healthy diet and lifestyle. Also, please consult your doctor if you have any concerns about what supplements you should be taking and in what amounts. This vitamin routine works for my body, however I can not evaluate how they will work for you. Therefore research and customize your vitamin intake according to your body’s needs and consult a physician to ensure healthy vitamin intake.
