Lip scrubs are probably one of the best treatments you can do for your lips second to moisturizing with a good lip balm. Just like the skin on your body needs exfoliating, your lips need exfoliating as well. In fact, your lips are exposed to more air, sunlight, and other damaging sources than other areas of your body. Therefore they can really go through the ringer if we’re not careful to treat them just as we would our face or other sensitive skin areas. Exfoliating is particularly important for your lips because they can gather dead skin cells which leaves them feeling dry, cracked and rough. If you want smooth, moisturized lips you should incorporate a lip scrub in your skin care routine. In my opinion, Lush by far has the best lip scrubs when it comes to quality of ingredients, effectiveness and price.
So you may notice that I’m a bit obsessed with lip scrubs. I must have smooth lips and lip scrubs are a pleasant and gentle way to achieve baby soft lips. They’re also great if you participate in the extremely popular liquid lipstick trend, some of which can really rough up your lips, leaving them feeling dry and cracked. A lip scrub will slough off that dead skin and give you a smooth palette to apply your favorite lip products They’re also super yummy and pleasant to use. Lush has quite a few different ones and I rotate between a few of my favorites.
As you may be able to tell from the picture, Mint Julips is my favorite lip scrub from Lush. Just as the name suggests, it tastes minty and sweet exactly like a peppermint patty. It’s very refreshing, it tastes delicious and most importantly, it’s super effective at getting all of that dead skin off of your lips to reveal a smooth, luscious pout. Another aspect of Lush’s lip scrubs that I love is that they’re Vegan and completely edible. Therefore you do not have to rinse them off. After your done scrubbing, you can simply lick your lips. The Mint Julip Lip Scrub contains Castor Sugar, Organic Jojoba Oil, Vanilla Extract, Tagetes Oil, and Peppermint Oil. The oils in these scrubs allow them to moisturize your lips as well as exfoliate them which is what makes these scrubs such an awesome lip treatment.
When it comes to price, these scrubs will run you about $9.95-$10.95 each which is pretty affordable, especially considering what many of the higher end brands are charging for lip treatments such as these. I’ve used other lip scrubs such as the Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub which while sweet and tasty, at $18 is not nearly as effective as the ones I’ve found at Lush.
While the Kiss and Sugar Plum Fairy lip scrubs are seasonal and usually released during holidays, the flavors Chocolate, Honey, Bubblegum, Mint Julips and Popcorn are available all year around. You can purchase these scrubs in any Lush store near you or online here.
