Lip masks may or may not be a part of your current skincare routine. But if you’re as obsessed with soft, moisturized and smooth lips as I am, they’re sure to become a regular treatment for you. Lip masks offer a more intensive treatment for your lips than simply using lip balm. If the weather is particularly, hot or cold then you may find that your lips get dried out or cracked more easily. In that case, these masks are perfect for soothing and healing your skin. If you’re familiar with how sheet masks work, then lip masks work just the same. If you’re not familiar with sheet masks, then check out my post on them here. You simply take the mask out of the packaging, apply it to your lips and wait about 15 minutes. Then remove the mask and massage the serum into your lips. Lip masks tend to focus on moisturizing, softening and repairing your lips. If your lips get dry, cracked and rough every now and again, these masks are perfect for repairing the skin on your lips and leaving them feeling re-hydrated and healthy. They’re also really convenient for travel because they come individually packaged.
My favorite lip mask is the FlashPatch 5 minute Hydrogel lip mask by Patchology. These masks are cooling and soothing to the lips and the hydrogel material only increases the soothing effect of the mask. The hydrogel also helps the mask to stay moist for the entire treatment time. This mask has Peptides and Green Tea Extract in it which adds to the soothing effect. It also has Niacinamide which helps repair the fatty acid levels in the skin and keep the skin hydrated. So this is truly a moisturizing and repairing lip mask—great for use if you’re lips are feeling particularly rough or irritated. These hydrogel lip masks come in a pack of 5 for $15.00 or $50.00 for 25 masks. Sephora also makes lip masks which are made of Bio-cellulose. These masks are also good at staying moist and helping your lips to feel moisturized long after you’ve removed the mask. The Sephora lip masks are $3.00 each and are perfect if you’re trying out lip masks for the first time.
