How to: 5 Minute Naturally Flawless Face

Who doesn’t want a flawless face with little to no effort? While I love the look of a full face- bold eyes, contour, brows, blush…let’s be honest, who has time for all of that everyday? I truly admire the women who can get up and spend 30+ minutes doing their makeup, however this is just not my reality. On the weekends, I tend to put a little more effort into my makeup, but during the week I’ll be lucky to grab a breakfast bar and get out of the door on time.  I rarely even feel like applying any makeup in the mornings. However, now that I’ve created a quick makeup routine that I can use pretty much everyday, I’m able to look a little more put together in the mornings. So now, I want to show you how I achieve my natural, fresh and yes, flawless face in 10 minutes or less.

This is a makeup look you can really do in about 5 minutes in a hurry. So let’s go ahead and jump in!

First things first, let’s start with your base. During the week, I really don’t feel like being bothered with foundation. As the day goes on, I can start to feel it on my face and by 3:00,  I just want to take a washcloth and scrub my face like crazy. Therefore I prefer to use a tinted moisturizer. The Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is my base of choice. This moisturizer is perfect for providing just enough coverage to even out your skin tone and provide a naturally flawless face without the weight of a foundation.

What I really love about using a tinted moisturizer is that unlike a foundation, you don’t need to use brush or beauty sponge, you can simply use your fingertips. Therefore when I’m in a hurry in the morning I can simply squeeze a bit of the moisturizer on my finger, dot it all over my face and rub it in. You can do this in about a minute because it’s so lightweight.

*Another tip I have is to apply a serum under your tinted moisturizer to give your face a natural glow under your makeup while also treating your skin.*

Cushion Foundations vs. Tinted Moisturizers

Though the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is a cult favorite, there are plenty of other options out there if you’re looking for a lightweight foundation. Below are pictures of a few of my favorites. Lately cushion foundations have been super popular not only for their lightweight formula, but also for the convenient and super easy packaging. They are great foundations for on the go wear. I personally love the Lancome Cushion Foundation. It is just as light and hydrating as a tinted moisturizer and provides a very natural looking amount of coverage. It is also buildable, therefore if you want more coverage, you can apply more without the product getting thick and cakey.

If you do have oily to combination skin, I would recommend setting the moisturizer/foundation you use with a light setting powder. I find that this is enough to keep my face set for the day with little to no blotting.

Sometimes I skip this step if I am in a hurry, although I know concealer for many women is a must. Therefore I recommend using a lightweight concealer over your tinted moisturizer-nothing too heavy or thick. I love the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I could even wear this concealer alone and skip the moisturizer (another tip if you’re in a hurry). Although it has a creamy consistency, it is very lightweight and natural looking. This concealer also provides a medium amount of coverage and blends extremely easily into the skin. You could use your fingers to blend the concealer, though I tend to use a beauty blender ($20, Sephora). Because this concealer is so easy to blend out, it can be applied in about 30 seconds or less.

Smashbox 24 hour waterproof concealer

Another concealer that I have been loving is the Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer. By the name of this concealer, you might assume that it has a thick heavy consistency but in fact, it is extremely lightweight, a bit watery and very easy to blend out. The longwear claim holds up well with this product. This concealer also provides medium to full coverage which is pretty remarkable considering the light consistency- perfect for a quick on the go makeup look.

Applying a bit of blush or bronzer to your face can really warm up your look and give you a natural yet flawless face- the key is using the right type of blush. For this makeup look, you really want to steer clear of dark, super bright, or intense colors. We’re going for a natural look- really as if you woke up like this.  I recommend using sheer, warm colors that provide a light pigment and natural glow to your cheekbones. For this, I really love Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour. This blush has a natural, lightweight formula with built in qualities that provide that natural glow. I have a medium deep skin tone, and I use the shade Spiced Cider. I believe this shade would look great on any skin tone- it is a warm, sheer, light brown with a touch of peach. This is the perfect type of blush for a quick makeup-less look as it truly looks like your natural skin. A quick swipe of this blush and you’re good to go.

No matter the routine, I never skip my brows. While I have brow gels, powders, pencils…etc., for this look I love to either use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz or Sephora’s Retractable Brow Pencil for a simple yet put together brow. These pencils, really allow you to define and fill in your brow with natural hair-like strokes to make your brows look full yet not overdone. While there are multiple brow products out there, a good pencil is really a one stop shop when you’re in a hurry. Brows usually take me longer than anything else, although in a rush I can do them in about 2 minutes. No need for concealer around the brows or anything like that- this is a quick on the go look!

Don’t walk out of the house with dry lips! For this step, use a sheer, moisturizing lip product such as Fresh’s Sugar Shine Lip Treatment or any moisturizing lip product for that matter. I recommend using a natural formula that will provide hydration to your lips as well as a shine- this will really give you that naturally flawless look.

 In Summary:

  • Use a tinted moisturizer as your base- they are extremely easy to blend for a quick application. You can use your fingers and blend it out in about 30 seconds.
  • Apply a serum under your tinted moisturizer to give your face a natural glow under your makeup while also treating your skin.
  • Use a warm, sheer blush with illuminating qualities that will warm your face while also providing a natural glow.
  • Use a brow pencil to define and fill in your brows- it is easy and quick and doing your brows will help create that flawless look even if you skip other steps.
  • Use a moisturizing lip gloss to hydrate your lips and provide a sheer amount of color. This will give you a natural, fresh look while also keeping your lips moisturized.

I hope you found some useful makeup tips when it comes to creating a naturally flawless  face in 10 minutes or less. You really do not have to put a ton of effort into your makeup to achieve a natural looking, fresh, flawless face.  I use this routine all of the time, especially when I’m trying to get out the door and still look put together.
